13 pax group for ABC trek with Harka
We arranged for a 13 pax group for the ABC trek with Harka. Even with a big group size, Harka and his team took good care of us. The itinerary was customized based on our needs and fitness level. Top-notch service was provided throughout our 10 days in Nepal. Our guide, Hari did an amazing job ensuring all of us were able to cope with the altitude and long trek well. During the trip, we requested some changes to the itinerary and they were able to accommodate our last-minute request. Would totally come back to them if we are planning for EBC and recommend it to those who wish to visit Nepal.

Unforgettable and its a real adventure
Haari, our tour guide, was great. He is very friendly, patient, accommodating with everyone and a mountain of knowledge about the Himalayas (very very enthusiastic about EBC, haha). He was well prepared with first aids and brought us to places to get gears and stuff that we missed out before our hike. He made plans ahead and keep us informed, totally made our ABC adventure so much more enjoyable and relaxed. The porters were super helpful and thoughtful, despite carrying our bags around the mountains they keep us entertained with their carefree personalities and great dancing skills 🙂 (yeah, they partied at one of the teahouse we stayed). OH did I mentioned, one of our member left his camera at the previous teahouse we stayed and only realised when we arrived at the next accommodation (after 12 hours) and one of the porter volunteered to return and pick up the camera for our member, and I’m sure he was sprinting and down 6 red bull and came back in 5hours. We were very lucky and blessed indeed. Haari’s brother, Harka is the operation/ owner of the tour agency and he was also very kind and did a fantastic job in ensuring our last few days in Kathmandu a pleasant one. We had good conversations with everyone of them and all in all a great experience and a wonderful times in this beautiful country.

our honeymoon trekking
My husband and I spent our honeymoon trekking to Annapurna Base Camp and Harka was our guide. We were so pleased to have Harka as he was the perfect guide for us. Naturally he has excellent knowledge and always gently guided us into the correct decision. We were quite worried about spending so much time with someone we didn’t know. But Harka had the magic ability to know when to leave us in peace and when to spend time with us. He was very gentlemanly, with perfect manners and as I said an innate ability to know what to do. He wasn’t too distant nor too friendly. We did see other guides who didn’t get this balance right and who if they had been with us would have affected our trip for the worse. Harka was just perfect for us and I would recommend him to anyone.

I and my girlfriend took a ABC Trek
In the march of 2012, my girlfriend and I took a trip to the Annapurna Base Camp in Nepal. We have hired a guide Harka Gurung , a local guide (26), who was recommended by my friends.First, he has sent us the list of things to take with us, this information is very valuable for us, since we know what to take with us. The weather conditions were pretty rough, but we did not freeze and need anything. Harka is very fond of safety, starting from the recommendations about the food and water and ending with advice was and how to pass the Avalanche area, steep slopes, and so on. He was very nice to us and told us a lot of stories about Nepali habits, culture, and history; he was always joking and did not show any signs of angriness when we were going to slow or wanted to have rest.
Harka went all the way with us and without him our travel would not have been so nice and safe.I definitely will choose home as a guide for my next trips to Nepal and recommend him to anyone who wants to feel comfortable and nice during the trek.

Highly recommended, friendly family-run company.
We booked a 7 day Annapurna Base Camp trek with Himalaya Trip in Sep. Communication when booking was excellent and they were very accommodating to fit in with our dates and pick up/drop off locations. The manager, Harka, was very quick to respond and provided good information about what to take. On arrival, Harka met us at our hotel in Kathmandu and explained the full plan for the trip giving us all our tickets and trekking passes. He also met us in the morning to ensure we got on the correct bus to Pokhara where we would meet our guide.
The guide and porter were very good: both were very friendly and couldn’t do enough to make sure we were comfortable and safe at all times. We were particularly impressed when we asked to change the plan for the last day of the trek and he gave us a few options and rebooked our accommodation and transport plan to fit. Even though the porter spoke little English he was friendly and helpful throughout.
Himalaya Trip clearly a local, family-run business and I would highly recommend booking directly with them as it was better value for money than going through an agent in the UK and also supports their local community. We will certainly use them again for future trekking adventures in Nepal.

ABC Made Memorable by Harka Gurung and Himalaya Trip !
Our little group of three were introduced to Himalaya Trip and its Founder, Harka Gurung, from another Malaysian who had trekked in Nepal in 2018.
For our trek to ABC, I found Harka and his guide, Om and his two porters, Buddhi Man and Samsher, all Gurungs from their home state, to be exceptionally professional, courteous, friendly and accommodating at all times.
We quickly warmed to the Gurungs’ easygoing nature and friendly, no-nonsense dispositions, made all the more memorable by Samsher and Buddhi Man’s mountain songs and spontaneous dancing whilst on the trail!
I cannot therefore recommend Harka, Om, Samsher and Buddhi Man more highly for your next trip to this beautiful land as Nepal Hidden Treks will definitely be my first port of call when I next visit, hopefully with my children.
The defining feature of Harka and his men are that this is a family business for the Gurung tribe which places employment, professional standards and career opportunities on equal if not higher measure than commercial profit, which ultimately benefits the lucky client.

Annapurna Circuit Trek
Another popular trekking destination in Nepal is the Annapurna Circuit trek. You will be driven from Kathmandu to Syangje. And, the scenery during the journey is simply too stunning to be true. Besides this, you will be exploring the breathtaking Marshyangdi valley. Trekkers will also be passing the Thorong La Pass. This pass is considered the most dangerous pass in the world. If you have enough resistance as an adventurer, then you will for sure be able to cross the pass without much trouble. Moreover, you will also be coming by the Kali Gandaki gorge located at the Kali Gandaki valley, which is also considered the deepest gorge in the world. Overall, you will be taking a round of the Annapurna range within 10 days in this journey.
Everest Base Camp Trek
Everest Base Camp trek is possibly the most popular trek on our list because it is the base camp of Mount Everest, or Sagarmatha, the tallest mountain in the world. The Everest Base Camp is also open for visitors all year long, especially because of the many winter expeditions that happen among world-class trekkers and mountaineers. You can also trek to Everest Base Camp during the summer. Additionally, the attractions that you will find during the Everest Base Camp trek include Namche Bazaar, Lukla, Tengboche, Kalapathhar, Sagarmatha National Park, etc. Trekkers will be able to experience the unique Sherpa culture in the trekking destination. As you traverse through the base camp trek landmarks, you will also be able to closely explore the Khumbu Icefall. This trek is around 12 days long.
3 Days Poon Hill Trek
The 3 days Poon Hill trek is the shortest trekking journey in our list. This trek is common among those adventurers who have not gone on extreme trekking journeys till the given time. Further, it is one of the easiest treks in Nepal and is very close to Pokhara city. So, if you’re in Pokhara and are looking to go on a fruitful yet accessible trek, then this is the one for you. The Poonhill trek also allows you to explore the hospitable Gurung villages in Ghorepani. Some other landmarks you will pass by are Birethati, Ulleri, Nangithati, etc. You can see the views of mountains like Mount Nilgiri, Mount Dhaulagiri, Mount Annapurna, and Mount Machhapuchhre when you’re on top of the destination.
Everest View Trek
The Everest View trek of 5 days is one of the most sought-after trekking journeys in Nepal in the Everest region. The trek is all about trekking landmarks with the most amazing views of the Himalayas, landscapes, and villages that showcase the culture of the Khumbu region. You will begin your journey from the Lukla Airport, which is also known as the Tenzing-Hillary Lukla Airport. You will slowly make your way through other prominent destinations like Namche Bazaar, which is the main marketplace of Khumbu and also the cultural hub of the Sherpa people. You will also get to view wildlife species like the Himalayan Thar, Musk deer, various bird species, etc. Besides Mount Everest, trekkers can also get the most spectacular views of Mount Nuptse, Mount Lhotse, Mount Ama Dablam, etc.
The following are the benefits of trekking in Nepal:
Learning experience: Trekking in Nepal is all about learning new things. This includes learning about the culture, traditions, locations, and wildlife species of the country, and overall learning through interactions with fellow trekkers.
Challenging your fitness: You will be able to challenge yourself physically when you’re trekking. If you are a fitness freak, then trekking is one activity that you should definitely explore.
Confidence-building experience: When you trek, it helps you build confidence within yourself. And, it is also a very healthy activity to engage in.
Connection building with nature: Trekking allows you to connect with nature. When you’re trekking, you come close to nature, from green landscapes to the tall Himalayas and the different traditional rice fields, villages, etc.
Memories-making for a lifetime: Last but not least, when you’re trekking, you get to make memories that will last you a lifetime. You will always have stories to tell your friends and family in the future and reminisce about them as some of the days of your life.
Challenges of trekking in Nepal
Along with the benefits, there are also a few challenges when you’re trekking in Nepal. Some such challenges are as follows:
Physical and mental challenge: When you’re trekking in Nepal, you will face several difficulties, including both bodily and mental challenges. These challenges cannot be overcome unless you are fully prepared for the journey or have trained as a trekker before in your life.
Seasonal challenges: There are just as many seasonal challenges of trekking in Nepal, especially during winter and the monsoon season. In winter, the temperature of the upper trekking regions drops excessively. This leads to difficulty in breathing, frostbite, and other health hazards, along with the snowfall and icy trails, leading to the possibility of accidents. The monsoon season can get extremely wet and slippery, increasing the risk of accidents.
Altitude sickness: You become prone to the possibility of altitude sickness when you are trekking, especially in the upper regions of Nepal. If you’re going to high-altitude locations, then you are likely to get sick because of the altitude. Further, if you do not acclimate properly, then the possibility of altitude sickness increases.
Rugged trails: The trekking trails in Nepal are rugged because of the remoteness of the trekking destinations. You cannot trek in Nepal expecting to come by straight and easy pathways. So, if you’re planning a trekking journey, you had better be accustomed to the rugged and rough elements you will be coming through.
Infrastructure: There isn’t much infrastructure in the remote trekking locations of Nepal. Therefore, you may find it challenging to best trace the most reliable infrastructures since most of what you get in the destinations is traditional, almost primitive.
Why You Should Choose Nepal for Trekking
Choosing Nepal for trekking is possibly one of the wisest decisions you can make as a trekker. First off, it has some of the most popular trekking destinations in the world. You won’t have to struggle too much when you’re looking for the best possible destination, as such locations are available in almost every corner of the major tourist places, including Kathmandu (the capital city), Pokhara, Mustang, Manang, Everest, etc. Also, the amenities in Nepal during trekking are way cheaper than it is at literally every other place in the world. Unless you are going on a mountaineering journey, you can expect to trek on a budget, even with some of the most luxurious facilities.
When you’re trekking in Nepal, you can also get to learn about the many interesting cultural facts that are not quite common in other countries, even those within Asia. Nepal is a land of traditional and historical wonders. Therefore, it won’t just be the natural elements that you’ll explore in any trek. The locals in many remote trekking destinations are curious about foreigners. Yet, they are very hospitable and helpful. Unlike most trekking destinations in the world, where serenity and naturally beautiful locations also pose certain threats and violate safety, Nepal just might be an exception. And, you will be more than happy to roam around the Himalayas while also coming quite close to some of the most prominent ones in the world.
Conclusion
Are you thinking of trekking in Nepal, dear explorer? Because if you are, then you are in for big surprises. The trekking journeys aren’t simply about the mountains, landscapes, cultural villages, or the many photographic opportunities you get along with, it is about making memories in peace, in some of the most rural places without compromise. Trekking in Nepal might just be a great addition to your trekking adventures. And, we bet there isn’t going to be a journey that you’ve had better than you will have when you’re in Nepal. If you’ve gone through all that we have mentioned in this article and kept in mind each factor, we are just as sure that you are also ready for your next adventure. Happy journey ahead!
