Annapurna Circuit Trek with Poon Hill Details
Best Time for Annapurna Circuit Trek with Poon Hill Trekking
Spring (March-May)
The spring season is the best time for Annapurna Circuit Trek with Poon Hill to mild weather and low rainfall. At high elevations in this region, the average daily temperature ranges from 8 to 0 degrees Celsius. The lower trek regions have a warmer climate, making the hike quite comfortable. The trekking season starts after March; by April, the hike routes at altitudes over 3,000 meters are covered with red, pink, and white rhododendron blooms. The temperature gradually increases from mid-March to mid-May. The weather is delightful, with clear skies offering stunning mountain views.
Autumn (September-November)
Autumn is an ideal trekking season, with moderate temperatures, mild wind, and low rainfall. The sun shines brightly, and the day temperature is perfect for trekking; the skies are clear, and you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the mountains. By September, the monsoon has ended, and you can expect a pleasant mix of mild and warm temperatures. In high altitudes, daytime temperatures can reach 20 degrees Celsius, while the night brings colder temperatures that may drop to 5 degrees Celsius. The monsoon green changes to golden/amber, stunningly contrasting the clear blue sky.
Annapurna Circuit Trek via Poon Hill Difficulty
The Annapurna Circuit with Poon Hill trekking is a strenuous trip in the Annapurna area. The hike lasts five days (below 3,500 meters) from Bhulbhule to Manang, while the walk lasts five to six hours each. You'll hike 3 to 4 hours above 3,500 meters from Manang to Thorung Phedi for two days. You must take frequent breaks because high-altitude treks are physically more demanding than lower-altitude treks.
However, the most challenging part of your journey is from Thorung Phedi to Muktinath temple, where you will cross Thorong La Pass, the highest point on this route. This isolated mountain trip has long climbs, steep descents, and straight roads. Prior hiking experience would be beneficial, but no technical expertise or skills are required.
The trip suits trekkers who can maintain a reasonable pace for 4 to 6 hours daily. Regular exercise in the weeks leading up to your trip will boost your stamina, ensuring you can enjoy the trek fully. You must have a positive mindset, self-confidence, and strong determination.
Acclimatization During ACT + Poon Hill Trek
Acclimatizing is essential when trekking in high-altitude areas such as Annapurna Circuit Trek. Proper acclimatization is crucial for your body to adapt to the lower oxygen levels as you ascend. This helps reduce the risk of altitude-related sickness and ensures a more enjoyable trekking experience.
Many trekkers spend time in Manang (3,519 meters) to acclimate to the altitude. To minimize the risk of altitude sickness, you can follow some methods. These include walking comfortably, staying hydrated, ascending gradually, and considering preventive medications.
Transportation Required for Trek
Himalaya trip offers convenient transportation options, including complimentary arrival and departure. Our airport representative will warmly welcome you with traditional flowers when you arrive. We will then arrange for you to be taken to your hotel. Additionally, we can provide private vehicles for city tours such as Kathmandu Valley sightseeing or any other destinations in Nepal upon request.
Accommodation and Food Throughout the Trail
Several accommodation options along the trail include lodges, tea houses, camping, and homestays. Teahouses generally have a room with two beds, a shared bathroom, and a dining room that everyone can use. Lodges are more expensive than teahouses, but they are cozier and bigger. They serve Western food and have separate bathrooms with hot showers. They are usually found in bigger towns and villages. In the Annapurna region, towns like Ghandruk and Dhorepani offer more than lodges and teahouses. You can have homestays, allowing you to experience Nepali culture fully.

Permit Required for Annapurna Circuit with Poon Hill Trek
Permits are necessary to enter the Annapurna region, as they grant you the authorization you need. When planning your Annapurna Circuit trekking adventure, it is important to obtain two essential permits: the Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS) and the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP).
Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS)
The Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS) increases the safety of all trekkers in Nepal. Once you pay, your name and itinerary will be instantly added to the system. This permit will assist the local authorities in planning sustainability efforts in specific locations and be valuable for rescue operations during emergencies during your trek. You need a photocopy of your passport and two passport-sized photos to get your TIMS card. It costs NPR 2000.
Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP)
The Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) has been issued for the Annapurna region. The permit and the corresponding payment make preserving the area possible. If you want an ACAP permit, bring your passport and two extra passport photos. You should also fill out a form with details about your insurance, the trekking route you plan, and your itinerary. The cost of ACAP is NPR 3000.
Culture and Language
The Annapurna region's cultural diversity is just as extensive as its natural diversity. The people and culture of this region are extremely diverse. In the southern part of the region, the Gurung and Magar communities are the most popular groups. Additionally, there is a significant population of Thakali people, while the Loba community mainly inhabits the northern region.
Each of these groups has a unique language and distinct culture and traditions. Few Brahmin, Chhetri, and other occupational castes are present. Many individuals follow Hinduism, Buddhism, and ancient religious traditions. A diverse blend of religious beliefs can be found throughout the region. The Gurungs of Annapurna is a fascinating ethnic group indigenous to the beautiful hills of Nepal. The Gurungs have their own language, which originates from the Sino-Tibetan language family. In addition to their native language, they might also speak Nepali.
