Mardi Himal Trek Details
Mardi Himal Trek is a short, moderate type, newly open trek in Annapurna region. This area nestled deep in the vicinity of wilderness in the west is filled with amusement. Trek to Mardi Himal Base Camp begins from 1770 meters at Kande and reaches the towering height of 4500 meters at Mardi Himal Base Camp. As a newly opened trekking destination of the west, Mardi Trek is slowly gaining attention of the trekkers from around the world. Along the trail to Mardi lies the enigma of wilderness, raging rivers, lush deep forests, towering mountains, and natural trails.
The Mardi Himal Trek Route begins from the bustling city of Pokhara in the west. From hereafter, we take a short ride to the north-western village of Kande located on the Baglung-Pokhara highway. Our initial stretch of the trek initiates from Kande traversing via a rural setup towards Australian Camp. It then follows across the wondrous trail towards Pritam Deurali. This stretch of the trek is easygoing and passes via rural villages located in and around Pitam Deurali.
As the trail heads further from Pitam Deurali, it entails a series of Rhododendron forests. We traverse deep into these forests scattered all along the trail. This section of the trail is filled with Sub-tropical forests that include varieties of flora including Juniper, Bamboo, Birch, Oak, and Fir. These spaces are home to over 500 species of different birds including Himalayan Monal, Blood Pheasant, Kalij Pheasant, Rufous Sibia, Spotted Forktail, Himalayan whistling thrush, White-collared blackbird, and others. You would be amazed to gaze at the biodiversity spread across the terrain.
Our trek takes us through small hamlets located in Forest camp or Kokar which is located in an isolated area surrounded by lush greenery. Depending on your Mardi Himal Trek Itinerary, your stopover will be selected as a forest camp 2600m located at a duration of 3 hours from Pitam Deurali. Then onward, we travel across these dense forests and elevate for a while to reach Low Camp. As you ascend to 2970 meters at Low camp, the dense forests turn to widespread grassland. The low camp sits as a small hamlet with various teahouses running. You will have the first glimpse of Mardi Himal, Mt.Fishtail, Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli from Low Camp.
The final stretch of 4 Days Mardi Himal Trek inclines steeply from 2970 meters at Low Camp to the final stopover, Badal Danda and High Camp or Kew at 3600 meters. The spatial distribution variates enormously as you make this ascent. During this traverse, the dense forest turns into a shady barren landscape. The subtropical vegetation turns into Lowe-Alpine topography. The dense Rhododendron forest now turns to alpine meadows. Also, you are now in the Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) prone zone as the mark of 3000 is crossed. The astounding vista of Annapurna massifs welcomes you as you reach High Camp. High Camp in Mardi Trek is a small yet picturesque settlement bestowing surreal views of the Annapurna mountains. This space is the final stopover of Mardi Himal Trekking.
After one night stopover here we take an early morning hike to Lower View Point , Upper View Point and finally at Mardi Himal Base Camp. The base camp is located at 4500 meters and entails a steep hike via rocky ridges of the mountains. The early sunrise view from the base camp is to die for. You get to see the shimmering mountains dyed golden, red, and lofty white as the sun shines over them. This viewpoint is popular for its picturesque gaze of the western face of Mt.Fishtail. Alongside, you will have a far-reaching view of the surrounding Annapurna massifs.
Your return journey retraces the same trail descending from High Camp. Badal Danda 3300 meters is situated as a midpoint between Low Camp and High Camp. This stop provides panoramic views of Annapurna massifs with alluring vistas all over. The sunrise as seen from here is astounding. We take a shortcut from Badal Danda diverging steeply downwards. After 4-5 hours of traverse we reach the village located at the base of Badal Danda called Sidhing. Our vehicle will take us back to Pokhara from Sidhing marking the end of our journey.

An Unforgettable Epic Solo trekking experience
Just completed an incredible Solo Mardi Himal Trekking. Undoubtedly it was one of the best experiences of my life and unforgettable too. Despite its immense physical and mental challenges, the 5-day trek was fully worth it. Great deal with Himalaya Trip at reasonable prices. The company of friendly porter guide Sandeep, and his warm hospitality and attention to detail were impressive. Cherry on the top was breathtaking views, what more could I ask for? I am certain, I’ll be going through for next treks with them in the future.

Mardi Himal Trek in July 2023
My family, friends and I, just finished the Mardi Himal trek from 11th to 15th July. Unfortunately the weather was not favorable but the organization was excellent. Mr Harka Gurung also organized the transfer from Katmandu to Pokhara by jeep, the road is not the best but it gave the possibility to see a piece of Nepal. Our guide Mr Jay was amazing, attentive to our needs and kept us entertained. We can say that we have found a friend. If we go back to Nepal we will definitely turn to Himalaya Trip. Mardi Himal Trek- Everything was Amazing
Amazing trip, with amazing views, and amazing Nepali people! Long hours of daily trekking, in the vicinity of simple small hotels, far away from civilization but the relaxing ambiance and fresh foods sum up our amazing experience. Nice warm weather during the days, chilly weather (almost 4 degrees) during nights, and
an unexpected blizzard on High Camp forced us to descend. An unforgettable experience descending 1700m down with snowing and raining, and getting wet. A fresh getaway and a "cut-off" from the daily rush for a workaholic like me was refreshing. Mardi Himal Trek is for those who wish to be close to nature, need a break from a hectic life, feel freedom, and are open to any new experience in the lap of the Himalayas. :) Ps - Big thanks to Jay, he was always close, always helpful and we felt always safe. What a great trekking experience!
Fair Prices, Great Reviews, The Himalaya Trip was our choice for the Mardi Himal Trek. And we don’t regret it as everything was smoothly arranged by Harka, the owner of the organization. Also great information beforehand on what to expect, what to and not to do, and the use of gears which were fruitful.
Lucky and Glad to have Babu as our guide as he was a caring, interesting conversational partner, and extremely committed travel companion. Always concerned about our well-being and health. With him, we felt secure and well-cared for even at a high altitude. Babu is a very experienced guide and well-versed in the region. He took us to the best tea houses, and the best routes, and also shared many interesting details about life and hiking in the high mountains. Without worries, we were able to enjoy our trek.

The trail to Mardi Himal Base Camp makes its way through the dense forests of ACAP. There are numerous tea houses built along the trail for accommodation facilities. The trail for the most part navigates through deep gorges and rocky ridges of high hills. Cellular facilities in these areas while available can be disturbed most of the time. While there might be voice call facilities, data connection can be an issue during the trek. Tea Houses in Mardi Himal Trek have wifi facilities available. Difficulty Mardi Himal Trek
Mardi Himal Trek is relatively moderate compared to other Annapurna trekking in Nepal and Everest Base Camp Trek. The elevation range, availability of teahouses, technicality of the trail, and amount of crowd make this trek perfect for beginners as well as experienced trekkers. That being said, the trail after you cross Low Camp is arduous. The steep and narrow rocky paths begin after you traverse through Low Camp. The stretch from there to High Camp is risky and needs careful navigation. Also, as you hike from High Camp towards Mardi Base Camp, it is an AMS-prone zone with an elevation reaching 4500 meters. During the winter, this section is filled with snow making it difficult to traverse. In a nutshell, if done with a professional trekking agency, Mardi Himal Trek can be a comfortable and mesmerizing trekking experience for all kinds of trekkers.
