Champa Devi Bhasmasur Day Hike Details
History of Champa Devi Bhasmasur Temple
Champa Devi Bhasmasur Danda Temple has recently become an excellent place for trekking or a spiritual tour. Due to its history, you will wander through lush green jungles, colorful trails, and different myths and wonders. Although not much is known about the myth, the place is worshipped for the Hindu goddess Chamunda and also the deity named Bhasmasur.
The Bhasmasur deity was a follower of Lord Shiva, and due to his relentless meditation, Lord Shiva gave him the power to turn anything into ashes with just a touch. When everything he touched started turning to ash, Bhasmasur became proud and tried to touch Shiva to replace him. When Lord Shiva found out, he sought the help of Lord Vishnu, who, in return, took the form of Mohini, a beautiful woman. While dancing, Mohini tricked Bhasmasura into placing his hand on his head, which caused him to be reduced to ashes due to Lord Shiva’s boon. Hence, we should worship Lord Shiva and Vishnu and acknowledge the mythical war between the deity and Gods.
