History of Champa Devi Bhasmasur Temple

Champa Devi Bhasmasur Danda Temple has recently become an excellent place for trekking or a spiritual tour. Due to its history, you will wander through lush green jungles, colorful trails, and different myths and wonders. Although not much is known about the myth, the place is worshipped for the Hindu goddess Chamunda and also the deity named Bhasmasur.

The Bhasmasur deity was a follower of Lord Shiva, and due to his relentless meditation, Lord Shiva gave him the power to turn anything into ashes with just a touch. When everything he touched started turning to ash, Bhasmasur became proud and tried to touch Shiva to replace him. When Lord Shiva found out, he sought the help of Lord Vishnu, who, in return, took the form of Mohini, a beautiful woman. While dancing, Mohini tricked Bhasmasura into placing his hand on his head, which caused him to be reduced to ashes due to Lord Shiva’s boon. Hence, we should worship Lord Shiva and Vishnu and acknowledge the mythical war between the deity and Gods.

Champa Devi Bhasmasur Dada Day Hike Details

Champa Devi Bhasmasur Dada Day Hike starts at Pharping Bhanjang after a 40-minute drive from Thamel. Champadevi- Bhasmasur Deurali /Danda / Hill- Matatirtha Day Hike is refreshing, with a Himalayas, Kathmandu Valley view, and a Nature walk. The trail is mainly for the older generation, who use stone steps and ridge walks. On a clear day, you will have an imaging view of Mt. Manaslu, Ganesh, Langtang Lirung, Gangchenpo, Dorje Lakpa, and other ranges. The trail is uphill from Hattibat resort to Champadevi (2285m).

There is a small Temple at the Top of Champadevi. From there, we will go downhill for a bit and uphill to Bhasmasur Danda Deurali (2496m). You will have the best view of the Himalayas ranges and Kathmandu Valley. This is the highest point of this hike. From Bhasmasur, the trail goes downhill to Matatirtha. If you are lucky, you have a chance to see wild animals. If you are a bird watcher, you will see some birds. The hike is mostly a jungle walk; there is no place for meals, drinks, or snacks. You have to bring snacks and water with you. The hike is a 6-7 hour walk. From the Matatirtha, you will drive back to your Hotel.

Champa Devi Bhasmasur Itinerary

Period I: After breakfast, drive from your Hotel- Pharping

The first hour of the trek begins with breakfast in your hotel. After that, you will start on the brief drive to the Pharping, one of the most scenic routes. The drive takes up to 40 minutes, passing through small towns and villages.

Period II: Hike to Champa Devi temple

From Pharping, you will start trekking as the destination is Champa Devi temple. The trek to Champa Devi Hill is fantastic. You will also pass through different types of floras and faunas—the trek from Pharping and Champa Devi. Once you reach the Champa Devi temple, you will worship the goddess Chamunda. Once you are there, soak in the scenic atmosphere and enjoy as much as possible.

Period III: Continue hike to Highest Peak Bhasmasur Danda best view Point

After taking a minor break-in Champa Devi Hill, it’s time to continue your trek to the Bhasmasur Danda. This is also the highest point of the trek, from where you can observe remarkable scenes of the surrounding local villages. The hike to Bhasmasur Danda from Champa Danda took about 1 hour. You may feel tired, but check out the stunning mountain views and create fantastic pictures.

Period IV: Down to Chhap Bhanjyang for Lunch

Once you stay for about an hour in the Bhasmasur Danda, it’s time to descend, and now it’s time to descend the Chhap Bhanjyang. You can have your lunch on vast barren lands and start moving again.

Period V: Step downhill to Machhagoan

After lunch, keep trekking downhill from Chhap Bhanjynag and then reach Machhagoan, a beautiful village. The hike from Chhap Bhanjyang to Machhagoan takes about 2 hours.

Period Vi: Drive from Machhagoan to your Hotel

The trekking part of the day ended, so when you reach Machhagoan, it’s time to take a ride back to your hotel. It takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to get from Machhagoan to Hotel.

Incredible!

Hi! Im Sara, from Spain!
Good morning!
Yesterday we arrived from our 11-day trekking in Gokyo.
There were 3 people from Spain, and I don’t know how to express how happy I felt.
From the beginning, Himalaya Trip has been attentive to us, with a welcome at the hotel and explanation of the route, rental of necessary equipment, etc.
The most important thing for us has been the ease and comfort with which Ramesh (our precious guide) has taken care of us at all time.
Attentive to the food, to make sure we didn’t get cold, adapting the route day by day according to the needs of the team.

I only have words of gratitude for Ramesh, who I would recommend for any trekking in the world.
In addition to being a great guide and knowing all the mountains of Nepal perfectly, he is a great person, with a big heart.

We hope to repeat in the not too distant future and hopefully it can be with him, since he is already part of our family.
Thank you for everything, from the bottom of my heart.

Thanks!!!!

Couldn’t recommend enough

Had an incredible experience doing the Mardi Himal trek with Himalaya Trip. Our guide Jay and our two porters Umesh and Masak were all simply incredible people.

I’m a photographer so always have odd requests for weird areas to access for better angles or even simply just extending time in certain areas and all requests were met with so much help from the team. Highly recommend

Mardi Himal: fantastic trek & wonderful guide

I had an amazing time trekking with Surpa, particularly as this was my first solo trek. Beautiful views doing the Mardi Himal trek over 4 days, Surpa was a great guide who organised everything so well for me, kept me well fed, supported a good pace the whole way and always cheerful. Would recommend, and I would happily have him as my guide again in the future. The organisation and booking with Himalaya Trip was great, really responsive on emails and Harka was so helpful in organising everything and meeting me in Kathmandu for a briefing before the trip. Thanks so much!

Once in a lifetime experience in the Himalayas

Our 4 day Mardi Himal Trek with guide Milan and porter Plekta was a wonderful experience. The manager Harka Gurung met with us over coffee in Kathmandu and briefed us about expectations as this was our first trek. After that our guide met us at our hotel in Pokhara, helped us rent equipment, and handled all logistics in between. Our first time in the Himalayas was unforgettable between all the unbelievable landscapes and scenery, and we were lucky to have MIlan and Plekta with us to experience it all. I can’t begin to describe how ethereal sunrise is over the base camp, but hopefully you’ll be able to experience it soon!
