Tamang Heritage Trail Trek Details
Tamang heritage trail trek starts from Syabrubesi (1460m) and passes through Gatlang, Chilime, Thuman, Timure and Briddim tamang village. The people of this region are mostly Tibetans who came from Kerung in Tibet across the border and settled in Nepal. In earlier days, the citizenship of Nepal would not be offered to real Tibetans, so they changed their ethnicity to tamang, which is what they still write till date. The cultural and traditions of these people are similar to the Tibetan across the border. Gatlang is a traditional Tamang village. Gatlang set high on a hillside among terraced fields is the Tamang settlement. One can also visit a Tamang monastery and the beautiful Parvatikunda Lake at Gatlang. From the viewpoint at Bahundanda near these settlements, called Parwati Kunda and one can also see a wide view of Lantang, Kerung, and the Ganesh Himal, Sanjen Himal ranges. Bathing in the hot, healing waters of the natural spring at Tatopani is an exhilarating experience. Nagathali (3165m, view point) in Thuman VDC is surrounded by beautiful views of Langtang, Kerung, Ganesh Himal and Sanjen Himal ranges. Nagthali used to be a popular meditation center for the local monks and priests. The ancient monasteries and houses adorned with rich wood engravings at Thuman village are an unforgettable experience. Timure is on the old trade route to Tibet. A fort at Rasuwagadi in Timure is a historical reminder of the Nepal-Tibet relations that has existed for many centuries. A suspension bridge here links Nepal and Tibet. Briddim village offers warm Tamang hospitality at the home – stays run by community members. In addition, visitors can also visit local monasteries of Dukchu Gomba (monastery) chosen as sacred site by the great Tibetan Lama – Guru Rinpoche and Chukla Khnaga Gomba. The tamnag heritage trail trek ends at Syabrubensi or will head towards the Langtang trek via Sherpa gaun or Khanjim village.

Tamang Heritage Trail
With Himalaya Trip, I did a 6/7-day trek, the Tamang Heritage Trail. For me, it was perfect, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is in good physical shape but not sufficiently trained for more challenging treks and who also wants to combine cultural enrichment with trekking.
The trekking prices are very competitive, yet everything was perfectly organized, and the experience went smoothly. They immediately offered me a female guide if that was my preference. My guide was Gelmu, an amazing woman. She was always very professional and attentive, with a wonderful personality—it was a pleasure to meet her. The trek wouldn’t have been the same without her, her kindness, and the way she naturally made connections and became a friend along the journey.

There were 3 people from Spain, and I don’t know how to express how happy I felt.
From the beginning, Himalaya Trip has been attentive to us, with a welcome at the hotel and explanation of the route, rental of necessary equipment, etc.
The most important thing for us has been the ease and comfort with which Ramesh (our precious guide) has taken care of us at all time.
Attentive to the food, to make sure we didn’t get cold, adapting the route day by day according to the needs of the team.
I only have words of gratitude for Ramesh, who I would recommend for any trekking in the world.
In addition to being a great guide and knowing all the mountains of Nepal perfectly, he is a great person, with a big heart.

Once in a lifetime experience in the Himalayas
Our 4 day Mardi Himal Trek with guide Milan and porter Plekta was a wonderful experience. The manager Harka Gurung met with us over coffee in Kathmandu and briefed us about expectations as this was our first trek. After that our guide met us at our hotel in Pokhara, helped us rent equipment, and handled all logistics in between. Our first time in the Himalayas was unforgettable between all the unbelievable landscapes and scenery, and we were lucky to have MIlan and Plekta with us to experience it all. I can’t begin to describe how ethereal sunrise is over the base camp, but hopefully you’ll be able to experience it soon!
