The Tsum Valley Manaslu trek or Manaslu and Tsum Valley Trek ascends follow Buri Gandaki River after drive from Kathmandu to Machhakhola by public bus. Trek to Jagat (Entry point of restricted area) , Lokpa, Chumling, Tsum valley (part of the Inner Himalaya) opens from Chhokangparo, where hospitable local people (Tibetan group “Tsombo”) welcome you with traditional Tibetan Chiya (butter tea) and local meal. The Tsum Valley is extremely rich in cultural assets. The valley is dotted with gompas (Buddhist monasteries), chortens and mani walls. The longest mani walls (over 250m) are at Dzong and Phurpe. The valley preserves steps of the great Buddhist Yogi Chyuchin Milarepa and story about Guru Padmasambhava circumbulation. The people here never slaughter animals, even as sacrifice to the gods. The Tsum Valley is surrounded by the Buddha Himal and Himal Chuli to the west, Ganesh Himal to the south, and Sringi Himal to the North. The Tsum valley trekking lies in Manaslu region . Your guide and porter will come to pick you up at your Hotel in the morning and then take a taxi to Bus station. You will take a public bus from Kathmandu to Machha Khola . It takes 9-10 hours’ drive by public bus. The bus will stop for Breakfast and Lunch. Kathmandu to Gorkha is nice road. is gravel road to Machha Khola, overnight at Lodge.

You will start the trek after the breakfast. Trek from Machha Khola to Jagat (checkpoint) is 7 hours walking. You will follow the Budhi Gandaki River all the way to Jagat. The trail from Machha Khola to Dovan is mostly Nepali flat. From Dovan to Jagat is slowly uphill. We pass Khorla besi, Tatapani (Natural Hot Spring), Dovan, Yaru Khola town. The Jagat is located 1340m, overnight at Lodge.

Jagat is entry point for Manaslu and Tsum Valley Restricted area. Your guide will check in your permit. Trek from Jagat to Lokpa is 6-7 hours walk. You will pass Sirdibas Philim village during the hike. When you trek little bit further from Ekle Bhatti, there is also the option for Tsum Valley on the right side trail. And climbing up to Lokpa (2240m, 6/7 hours walking) and then overnight at Lodge.

From the Deng, you will go down to the river. You will cross the bridge and climb up to Rana gaon. From Ranagaon, you trek to Bihi Phedi. After little bit walk from Bihi Phedi, there is two trail. A trail goes to Prok village on the left side. But you will take right side trail to Ghap. From Ghap, you will trek up to Namrung Village. Namrung is good spot to view Siringi Himal and Ganesh Himal. Trek from Deng to Namrung is 6-7 hours walking. Namrung is located at 2630m, overnight at Lodge.
Optional: It is possible to extend your trek to Prok and Kal Tal or Kal Chhokang Gumpa.

Namrung has a Check post. Your guide will check in your permit after that you will start the hike. During the hike, you will pass Lihi gaun, Sho Gaun, Lho Gaun and Syala Gaun. Trek from Namrung to Samagaun is 5-6 hours walking. Samagaun is located at 3520m, overnight at Lodge.

The trail from Samagaun to Samdo is short walk. It takes 3-4 hours walk to Samdo. The elevation high here. So, it is better to take it easy. After the lunch in Samdo, you may do side trip to Samdo Peak. You will have excellent view of Mt. Manaslu and other mountains. The Samdo Peak is higher than Samdo village. It will be helpful to acclimatize your body. The Samdo is located at 3875m, overnight at Lodge.

You will wake up early in the morning. You will have some hot tea and breakfast, start the hike with pack lunch. The trail from Dharmasala is slowly up to Larkya La pass (5106m). From Larkya La pass, you will have a nice view of Cheo Himal (6820m.), Gyaji Kung (7030m.), Kang guru (6981m.) and the Annapurna II (7937m.). After the Larkya La pass, the trail is all the way downhill to Bhimthang. Trek from Dharmashala to Bhimtang is 7-8 hours walk, overnight at Lodge.

Today, you will drive 6 hours to Besishahar by public Jeep.Besishahar is also starting point of Annapurna Circuit Trek. The Besishahar is located at 830m. After the Lunch at the Lodge in Besishahar, drive to Kathmandu by tourist bus. You will still see the Himalayas on the way back to Kathmandu in a clear day. It takes 6-7 hours’ drive, overnight at the own Hotel in Kathmandu.
Optional: If you want, it is also possible to hire a Private Car/ Jeep/ Van.
Note: For the flexibility , you may book own accommodations Hostel to 5 star Hotel in Kathmandu and you can stay more than one night in Kathmandu before and after the trek at your prefer place.

When Is The Best Time To Do Tsum Valley Manaslu Trek?
We organize this trek every day in whole year. But if you are planning to do this trek at the best time. We recommend you following time.
Winter (December – February): This is coldest time of the year. It will be difficult to trek because of there will be heavy snow.
Spring (March – May): This is best time to trek on Tsum Valley Manaslu trek. You will have wonderful weather with warm temperature. You will also have chances to see the Rhododendron flowers.
Summer (June – August): This is monsoon in Nepal. There is chances of raining every day and it will be cloudy and chances of Landslide. The rain poncho or rain jacket is needed.
Autumn (September – November): This is another best time to do this trek. After the raining season. It will be fresh and clear weather will be appear. It will be warm temperature.
What Kind Of Foods Do We Expect During The Tsum Valley Manaslu Trek ?
The Lodges have Menu; you will have your own choice. The foods are hygienic. But it is not like cities foods. Non-veg food are not recommend. It is not hygienic.
Breakfast: Simple Breakfast (Eggs any item, toast or Tibetan Bread, Pancake, Muesli, Oat Porridge etc.)
Lunch and Dinner: Nepali Thali (Plain Rice, Lentil soup, Potato Curry, Green Vegetable, Papadam,Tomato Hot spicy, Chicken curry optional), Macorani , Spaghetti, Potato item, Mo.Mo or dumpling, Pizza, Friend Rice, Fried Noodles, French fries etc.
Dessert: Fresh Fruit (Apple, orange, pomegranates, Banana with any seasonal fruit) serve as sweet dessert.
Note: All the drinks soft, hot, hard drinks are not included.
