Why Travelers Prefer Helicopter Tours Over Trekking to Everest

Travelers prefer helicopter tours over trekking to Everest Base Camp because they offer comfort, safety, and time efficiency. It is a faster, more convenient way to explore the popular Everest region. You can enjoy spectacular views of the Himalayas from a unique perspective. While trekking to the basic camp remains the classic experience, a helicopter tour is suitable for all travelers, regardless of physical fitness, age, or experience.

Let’s start with the time. The standard Everest Base Camp Trek takes 12 to 14 days to complete. Compared to it, the Everest Heli Tour takes only 4 to 5 hours. It is ideal for travelers with limited vacation time or a tight schedule who still want to witness the grandeur of Everest. The helicopter tour also eliminates the physically demanding, long hours of trekking. During the EBC Trek, one must trek for 5 to 7 hours on average. It requires both physical fitness and mental preparation. Not everyone is physically fit enough for the trek. Thus, taking the heli tour makes Everest accessible to all kinds of travelers, including kids and older people.

In addition to a comfortable experience, Everest Helicopter Tour offers a luxurious experience and a reduced risk of altitude sickness. Since the entire trip is 4 to 5 hours, you will be exposed to high altitude for short periods. Enjoy gorgeous views of the Himalayas while relaxing in comfortable seats and wearing noise-cancelling headphones. You can also have a luxury breakfast at the Everest View Hotel (3,880  m). The aerial views are unmatched, and the visual delight will remain with you for a lifetime. During the Everest Base Camp Trek, you can witness the mountain views but from a different perspective.

The Everest Heli Tour is excellent for celebrating special moments, such as birthdays, proposals, anniversaries, or other occasions. It is a unique way to mark the celebration. Additionally, you can customize the itinerary and route, or add other services, for a more flexible and convenient experience. For travelers who want exclusivity, a helicopter tour is an excellent alternative to the Everest Base Camp Trek. While the trek offers physical adventure and cultural depth, a helicopter tour is the ultimate way to explore the Everest region in a single day without the physical strain or long trek days.

Choosing the Right Month for an Everest Helicopter Flight

Your Everest Helicopter Tour experience also heavily relies on the time of the year you choose to take it. Choosing the right month also plays a crucial role in safety, the views you will see, and the experience. The season highly influences the weather changes. It affects the visibility and wind patterns. Hence, understanding the best month for the Everest Helicopter flight helps you make the most of the tour.

March to May (spring season) and September to November (autumn season) are the best months for the EBC Helicopter Flight tour. Here is why:

March to May

  • These months offer stable flying weather.
  • The chance of rainfall is low, so the sky is clear and visibility is excellent. It is the best time to enjoy the gorgeous views of Mount Everest and the surrounding peaks.
  • It is the Everest climbing season, so you can see the colorful views of the expedition camps scattered throughout the base camp.
  • It is blooming time for rhododendrons and other wild flowers. Hence, it colors the entire lower region, and you can enjoy views of the painted landscape from above.
  • These months are ideal for first-time flyers, luxury travelers, adventurers, and photographers.

September to November

  • These months follow the monsoon, so visibility is exceptionally clear. It offers the sharpest mountain views, even better than in spring.
  • The atmosphere is clean and dust-free, so the landscape looks more vibrant and lush.
  • The weather is calm with lower turbulence, and the temperature is comfortable for the Everest Heli Tour.
  • Weather-related delays and cancellations are minimal.
  • These months are best for those seeking the clearest mountain views, families, scenic flights, and photographers.

Incredible!

Hi! Im Sara, from Spain!
Good morning!
Yesterday we arrived from our 11-day trekking in Gokyo.
There were 3 people from Spain, and I don’t know how to express how happy I felt.
From the beginning, Himalaya Trip has been attentive to us, with a welcome at the hotel and explanation of the route, rental of necessary equipment, etc.
The most important thing for us has been the ease and comfort with which Ramesh (our precious guide) has taken care of us at all time.
Attentive to the food, to make sure we didn’t get cold, adapting the route day by day according to the needs of the team.

I only have words of gratitude for Ramesh, who I would recommend for any trekking in the world.
In addition to being a great guide and knowing all the mountains of Nepal perfectly, he is a great person, with a big heart.

We hope to repeat in the not too distant future and hopefully it can be with him, since he is already part of our family.
Thank you for everything, from the bottom of my heart.

Thanks!!!!

Mardi Himal: fantastic trek & wonderful guide

I had an amazing time trekking with Surpa, particularly as this was my first solo trek. Beautiful views doing the Mardi Himal trek over 4 days, Surpa was a great guide who organised everything so well for me, kept me well fed, supported a good pace the whole way and always cheerful. Would recommend, and I would happily have him as my guide again in the future. The organisation and booking with Himalaya Trip was great, really responsive on emails and Harka was so helpful in organising everything and meeting me in Kathmandu for a briefing before the trip. Thanks so much!

Once in a lifetime experience in the Himalayas

Our 4 day Mardi Himal Trek with guide Milan and porter Plekta was a wonderful experience. The manager Harka Gurung met with us over coffee in Kathmandu and briefed us about expectations as this was our first trek. After that our guide met us at our hotel in Pokhara, helped us rent equipment, and handled all logistics in between. Our first time in the Himalayas was unforgettable between all the unbelievable landscapes and scenery, and we were lucky to have MIlan and Plekta with us to experience it all. I can’t begin to describe how ethereal sunrise is over the base camp, but hopefully you’ll be able to experience it soon!
